The Arizona Education Association (AEA), representing thousands of educators throughout Arizona, strongly condemns the unprovoked acts of violence against unarmed Black men and women throughout our state and this country.

The AEA Board of Directors voted to create a task force to set forth a vision for Arizona public schools as we plan for the next academic year.

The Arizona Education Association is calling for students to remain home from school until education leaders and state policymakers can present a detailed plan of support that assures students will be returning to safe classrooms and healthy school sites.

Today, AEA launched the “We Count” campaign, kicking off a major effort to promote participation in the 2020 census through the activation of AEA’s members engaging their communities on the importance of the once-in-a-decade process mandated by the U.S. Constitution.

AEA supports the repeal of this anti-LGBTQ law and believes that health education curriculum should provide accurate and age-appropriate information to our students.

Education advocates and community groups stood behind teachers as they expressed outrage over Governor Doug Ducey giving his staff up to 20 percent salary increases after teachers only received a one-time, one-percent stipend from the state.

Earlier today, the Arizona School Personnel Administrators Association released new data showing that 2,890 teacher vacancies were unfilled across Arizona as of January 2023.
