AEA Renews Calls for Governor to Implement Statewide COVID-19 School Safety Plan

It has been two months since the Arizona Education Association called on Governor Ducey to implement a statewide COVID-19 school safety plan and there has been no action taken by the governor toward this important goal.
Published: October 30, 2020

Today, AEA sent a letter to Governor Ducey requesting a meeting to hear our ideas for a statewide plan that prioritizes the health and safety of our students and school staff, our families, and our communities. In this letter we again called up Governor Ducey to implement a statewide plan that includes the following: a mask mandate on campus and buses, requiring district COVID-19 safety protocols and notification plans to employees and students, cancelling high-stakes standardized testing, flexibility on required 180 days of instruction, and additional funding for support and resources school districts need to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students.
