Class Size Printer Friendly Page

AEA, along with strong support from many parents, teachers, and education researchers, believes that reducing class size allows for more individualized attention for students.  There are many research studies regarding class size and the effect of teacher-to-student ratios on education.  Read NEA's position on class size or check out the links to the right under Related Information for more information about class size research.

Arizona school districts are not required by the state to report the actual number of students assigned to each "regular classroom teacher."  The same is true of most other states.  An approximate estimate of teacher-to-student ratios can be determined by dividing the total number of students in a school or district by either all of the certified staff or by all of the non-supervisory certified staff.
