Yes on 100!
The AEA March4Schools coalition is mobilizing to pass Proposition 100 on May 18, 2010. Early ballots will be mailed on April 22 and Arizona voters will have an opportunity to vote "Yes" to protect public education and public safety from about $1 billion in additional cuts. Visit AEA Yes on 100 to learn more.

Day of Action - March, 4, 2010
Thousands took the fight for quality public education from the State Capitol, where legislators just don't seem to share our values, to every Arizona community, where we can organize voters to change an out of touch Legislature.

Get on the March4Schools List - Sign up to receive weekly legislative updates and information on how you can stop cuts to public education. Send an email to your legislators and the governor. Help repeal the punitive laws against teachers.

The March4Schools Video - 10,000 teachers and citizens joined together to prevent massive cuts to public schools and a movement was born. See what we have done.

Latest on the Budget - In the last special session of 2009 Governor Brewer used the line item veto to eliminate some of the most devastating cuts to public schools and vital state services . While the Governor did not allow some cuts to public education, many cuts were enacted by her signature along with several other punitive attacks on teachers.  Unfortunately, bipartisan negotiations never truly took place leaving the budget process squarely in the hands of Republican leadership. Their actions resulted in a continuing budget deficit of over 1.5 billion that grew to over $2 billion. Having forced another partisan vote to cut $140 million from our schools in a November special session, Brewer, Burns, and Adams have yet to address the need for additional revenue.

Now, fully engaged in the 2010 legislative session, Arizona is facing a $1 billion deficit for this fiscal year and a projected deficit of nearly $4 billion for fiscal year 2011.
