Are you willing to pay $4 to $7 per month if it means:
- protecting class sizes in Arizona from rising higher, or
- keeps 5,000 public school employees’ working, or
- builds the schools needed to meet student enrollment growth next year?
Apparently Senator Jim Waring and Representative Andy Biggs do not think that Arizona’s children are worth it.
Stop the irresponsible SCHOOL TAX REPEAL by taking action here.
The Facts Senator Waring's Senate Bill and Representative Biggs' House version would permanently repeal the State Equalization Property Tax Rate. This bill would prevent Arizona homeowners from contributing about $4 to $7 per month to Arizona public schools. It would also provide additional property tax reductions to businesses whose property taxes have already been decreased.
The Impact This school tax was temporarily suspended in 2006 when Arizona had a budget surplus of over $1.4 billion. Without any action by the legislature the suspension will end and the state will begin collecting approximately $250 million in revenue it generates in July of 2009.
