Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

The Arizona Education Association believes that the health and safety of Arizona students, educators and families should be the top priority of Arizona leaders. The AEA is recommending that public schools in Arizona close in order to support the containment of the COVID-19, coronavirus.

Furthermore, the AEA is committed to work with state leaders and local school districts to ensure that all students and staff are in a healthy and safe environment, as we grapple with the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. It is imperative that there are plans in place to limit the disruption these closures will have on Arizona students. Plans to keep our students fed, to deep clean our schools, and to ensure safety measures are in place for staff are needed now. The AEA believes that local union leadership should be part of these discussions, the creation and the follow through of these plans.

Educators are keenly aware the responsibilities of keeping our children safe, it is not only our professional responsibility, but the core of our mission as educators.
