February 19, 2007 Coalition Lists 14 Principles for NCLB Changes The Forum on Educational Accountability (FEA) recently released a report calling on legislators to use ESEA reauthorization as an opportunity to help build capacity to improve schools. The new FEA report – Redefining Accountability: Improving Student Learning by Building Capacity - builds on the 14 principles in its “Joint Organizational Statement on NCLB,” which has been signed by more than 100 civil rights, education, disability, religious, and civic organizations. The NEA is among the groups who have signed the joint statement, as are the American Association of School Administrators, Children’s Defense Fund, NAACP, National PTA, National School Boards Association, and the American Federation of Teachers.
